Anna Batenkova

Senior Adviser | WWF-Netherlands

ABOUT

Anna currently explores whether the implementation of green finance interventions, similar to those championed by WWF, could potentially yield positive outcomes in the Arctic. Numerous studies in recent years have revealed that despite the evident and widely acknowledged risks of unsustainable practices in the oil & gas, minerals, seafood, and shipping industries, these sectors continue to receive billions of dollars in support. Therefore, engaging the finance sector might be an effective strategy to create meaningful change.

Anna has been a panda since 2016 when she joined WWF Singapore where she played a pivotal role in executing WWF’s green finance strategy in Southeast Asia. In 2022, she transitioned to the WWF Netherlands Green Finance team, assisting WWF offices in the Global South and the WWF Global Arctic Programme in formulating and executing green finance interventions.

Anna’s academic background is in economics, and she brings 15-years of experience in international and sustainable finance to the table. Outside of her professional life, she has a keen interest in sustainable fashion, child psychology, and sustainable diets.
