Elisabeth Kruger

Manager, Arctic Wildlife | WWF-US

ABOUT

As WWF US’s Manager for Arctic Wildlife, Elisabeth works to connect the dots between maintaining healthy marine ecosystems in the Arctic, addressing the impacts of climate change, and the supporting the vision of Arctic coastal communities. Her goal is to increase knowledge and understanding of wildlife populations in Alaska, support continued coexistence of wildlife in the Arctic and the people who depend on wildlife resources, and enable sustainable populations of wildlife to thrive as the Arctic changes. She is active in The Arctic Species Working Group.

During her eleven years with WWF in Alaska, she’s worked on a variety of conservation issues in the Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort Sea ecosystems, which span across borders from Russia to Alaska to Canada. From salmon to polar bears, Elisabeth works towards bringing people together to keep our shared environment healthy and productive in this area of rapid change. Prior to joining WWF, she traveled to Russia as a Fulbright scholar, landing in Irkutsk, where she spent four years immersed in the culture, ecology, and majestic beauty of Siberia.

Elisabeth likes spending time outdoors in Alaska, whether it gardening with her three ducks, kayaking with her husband, or skiing with her dogs.
