ABOUT
Brandon is the WWF-Canada representative on the Arctic Programme’s Steering Committee. He is also a longstanding member of the Species Working Group, ensuring our work on Arctic wildlife in Canada is coordinated with global efforts across the circumpolar Arctic and WWF network.
Within WWF-Canada, Brandon’s work is focused on supporting the advancement of Inuit-led conservation initiatives guided by community priorities and values. He oversees all elements of the work on Arctic wildlife in Canada, including the protection of critical habitats for priority species. He developed and continues to oversee the implementation of Arctic Species Conservation Fund, which has supported close to 100 research and stewardships projects focused on the conservation of Arctic wildlife across Canada.
Brandon is a wildlife biologist by training, with a focus on polar bear ecology from both a scientific and Indigenous Knowledge lens during his graduate studies. He has been fortunate to participate in a wide variety of Arctic wildlife research projects, including polar bear population surveys, narwhal and bowhead whale tagging initiatives, and coordinating Arctic biodiversity field expeditions using DNA barcoding.
