ABOUT

The Greenland program represents Denmark in the WWF Global Arctic Programme. As a member of the GAP steering committee and as head of Greenland program, Malene ensures Greenlands participation and contribution to the work in the WWF GAP. As Head of WWF Denmark’s Greenland program, she is responsible for ensuring continuous development of the program, its strategies and the office and staff. She is the primary contact for stakeholders in Greenland and responsible for ensuring a close dialogue with the international WWF network within the Greenland program.

Malene has a diploma in strategic corporate communication and has worked with different kinds of communication for more than two decades: 10 years of journalistic communication, five years of strategic communication on political leadership level and three years on management level. She has also worked with execution of capacity building and management of the secretariat of the Greenland Human Rights Council. She cares very much about Greenlands society and environment.

As an Indigenous Inuk, she finds nature to be essential for human wellbeing. She uses nature as a rich source to energize her body and soul. In Greenland, climate change is seen and felt on a daily basis. Working for mitigation and adaptation to climate change is for her, as a mother, not only vital but also very meaningful.
