Gert Polet
ABOUT
Within WWF-NL, Gert is responsible for supporting programmes in the Arctic region, including the WWF Global Arctic Programme. In that capacity, he engages with the government, businesses and industries, knowledge institutes, NGOs, supporters and the public in The Netherlands to advance conservation work in the Arctic.
Gert is trained as a rural development geographer (Cum Laude) biologist. Since completing his studies, Gert has worked in conservation in several countries in Africa and Asia.
In his free time, he lives together with his partner, Ina, and enjoys cutting trees (legally in the name of conservation) in the neighbouring conservancy for his woodstove. He also likes to cycle and sometimes volunteers to count cetacean species by the sea. To get first-hand exposure to the Arctic in his free time, Gert regularly acts as a guide on expedition cruise tours.
