The EU-AYD takes place during the annual EU-Arctic Forum and Indigenous Peoples’ Dialogue organized by the European Commission and European External Action Service. During the EU-AYD, participants will present policy recommendations and engage with Arctic and EU policymakers.

To develop policy recommendations, a group of European and Arctic youth are selected to participate in pre-workshops, activities and an in-person event. Youth Together for Arctic Futures

The Youth Together for Arctic Futures project will encourage and empower youth to be active citizens and decision-makers for a sustainable Arctic. It will bring together Arctic and European youth to collaborate on advocacy and establish the EU-Arctic Youth Dialogue, with youth-created local, regional, national, and international activities. The EU-Arctic Youth Dialogue will become part of the EU’s flagship events on the Arctic, namely the EU Arctic Forum and the EU Indigenous Peoples’ Dialogue.

Youth Together for Arctic Futures is led by the WWF Global Arctic Programme, alongside Tromsø Municipality, the Saami Council, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, Arctic Mayors’ Forum, Arctic Youth Network, and the European Youth Parliament. The EU-funded project is youth-led, with a representative Youth Board overseeing the project’s direction and ensuring meaningful youth leadership.
