Q&A – Request for Proposals for interactive landing page and map
WWF Global Arctic Programme is currently accepting Request for Proposals (RFP) for our interactive landing page and map. As we are unable to hold individual meetings during the tender period, we will publish all questions and answers regarding the RFP here. The page will be updated on a regular basis as we receive questions.
When is the deadline for the proposal?
As no time zone was specified in the call, we will accept submissions from all time zones up to the end of 20 January.
What’s the timeline for developing the remaining PACs?
WWF GAP are already in the process of developing descriptions for the remaining PACs, and are expecting the majority to be finished under the course of 2026.
Will you need support with content strategy or illustration coordination?
No, illustrations and contents will be provided by WWF GAP.
What WordPress theme/framework are you currently using?
Our WordPress theme has been custom-built by an agency.
Are there existing GIS integrations, mapping libraries, or plugins already deployed that the new solution should build upon or replace?
No, not beyond the tools already mentioned in the proposal.
What level of ongoing support are you expecting after launch? Are you looking for training, documentation, or a maintenance retainer for updates and optimization?
WWF GAP already has a contract with another web developer for general website maintenance. We are currently not anticipating any need for post-launch support but if vendors wish to optionally outline post‑launch support offerings, these can be included in the proposal.
What format is the PAC data currently stored in within Chicory (GeoJSON, shapefiles, database)? Will we have API access to this data, or will it need to be migrated to a new hosting solution as part of this project?
The PAC data is in an ARCGIS compatible format. Regarding hosting and API access, we are open to vendor input and recommendations regarding appropriate approaches.
Do you have existing GIS infrastructure (ArcGIS Server, MapBox, etc.) that we should integrate with, or are you expecting the contractor to recommend and set up spatial data hosting as part of the deliverables?
WWF GAP currently uses MapBox for another interactive map on our website, our Wildlife Tracker. However, the Wildlife tracker is not intended to be integrated with the interactive map of the PACs. We are open to recommendations regarding GIS infrastructure or other solutions for this project.
Who will be responsible for data validation and approval prior to publication?
All data are already published or owned by WWF Global Arctic Programme. We will do the final approval.
How frequently is PAC data expected to change?
GIS data for PACs is expected to be relatively static. However, additional details about the PACs on the interactive page may be updated, and any solution should be easy for WWF GAP to update and edit independently.
Are there specific performance benchmarks or data privacy/compliance requirements that the platform must meet?
We expect the platform to comply with GDPR.
